Before 1920 there were only small demands on the building physics. Thermal insulation and sound insulation was not an issue. The constructions are carried out rather simply, basement walls sealed still not common. Special attention should be plaster damage and cracks and plumbing work. Advantage of the building: there is not really problematic building materials.

In 1930 years, the impact of the global economic crisis can be seen also in the types of buildings. Minimum room sizes and heights are often implemented on large properties, because a garden should serve as additional food supply. Today these properties are in demand because they usually have a potential for extensions and offer a large open space.

After the Second World War was mostly built with minimal material use. Often, bricks split was mixed with concrete. Or insulation, sound insulation played a significant role. Initial developments were brought to the construction chemicals market. Asbestos sheets, oil paint, asphalt cement and many other problematic materials were used. In a house from this period are always careful to recommend pollution studies, especially if the owners want to bring a high level of personal performance.

In the 1960s and 70s put concrete as a building material by more and more. Basement walls were sealed and drainage provided. The oil heater is standard. Thermal insulation and double glazing did not matter. A rather careless use of the building materials chemistry was normal. Flat roofs have been the first roofing sheets, which eventually caused their bad reputation. The type of the bungalow was imported from America, the use of the land was often wasteful. Today can be attributed to some bungalows subsequently set up a floor, either as a separate, independent apartment or as an extension of the existing dwelling.

It was not until the 1980s, sound and heat insulation, important planning issues. Mineral wool in the roofs sit through, but often without proper understanding of the physical building episodes, such as condensation accumulation in the roof in accordance with rotten wood structures. Often, clients have returned to build a fully-developed or re-clad penthouse, then a lot of money for a modern insulation installed, and above all, realize a technically correct sequence matched part. The prosperity of this period can be seen in the increasingly varied building materials, which represent most of unrestrained use the full range of home improvement stores in one building. In East Germany, a large part of detached houses and 1990 was outdated and worn out for lack of materials and craftsmen. Since then, most of it was renovated and modernized – with very different quality standards and results.
